FHS Art Mural


The visual arts play a vital role in any well-rounded curriculum.  At Fallston High School, we believe that the arts encourage and contribute to academic growth through the development of critical thinking, conceptual awareness, cultural understanding and aesthetic judgement.

At Fallston, our hope is that students who enroll in art truly have an interest and passion in the subject, and are considering using the Visual Arts as their career pathway. The introductory class, Fine Art Preparation (FAP), is a prerequisite course for each pathway and is also an option for students needing to complete their graduation requirement. Students looking to take additional art classes will have priority for the FAP in their freshmen year.

Currently FHS offers the following Art Pathway:
Visual Arts:
Three - Four credits in ONE of the following content strands:

  • Drawing (Fine Art Preparation, Drawing and Painting, Advanced Drawing, Advanced Studio Drawing, AP Studio Art-Drawing or 2-D Design)
  • Painting (Fine Art Preparation, Drawing and Painting, Advanced Painting, Advanced Studio Painting, AP Studio Art-Drawing or 2-D Design)
  • 3-D Design (Fine Art Preparation, 3-D Design, Crafts, Advanced 3-D Design, Advanced Studio 3D Design, AP Studio Art-3-D Design)
  • Visual Communications (Fine Art Preparation, Drawing and Painting, Photography, Advanced Photography, Printmaking, Visual Communication, Advanced Studio Visual Communications, AP Studio Art-Drawing or 2-D Design)

The introductory class, Fine Art Preparation, is also an option for students needing to complete their graduation requirement.
